The risking my life comment was pretty much made in jest, but I have to admit that I try to keep my time in federal buildings to a minimum nowadays. After the announcement was made, I considered motoring out of there. I suppose part of the reason I, and perhaps others, stuck around was Judge Easterbrook's fast quip that given it was the GSA (think federal landlord) making the announcement that evacuation was unnecessary, we should probably all flee the building immediately. That got quite a laugh.

Great account of the hearing. Thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed effort on a Friday afternoon. Sounds pretty promising for Craigslist. And Judge Easterbrook's implications that it's not immunity seem well placed.

Not being there, it's hard to draw any independent conclusions. But if Easterbrook has evolved his thinking, and the panelists are thinking hard about the practical challenges of filtering, this is much more promising than I feared. Thanks for risking your life to provide the first-hand report. Eric.
